COMPRESSION KNEE SLEEVE

Stability that holds when your legs are already gone

The 200m walking lunges arrive at the worst possible moment — after kilometers of running and seven stations of accumulated fatigue. That's exactly when the knee's ability to sense its own position starts to break down.

A systematic review of 20 studies found that knee sleeves measurably improve proprioception in healthy knees and deliver functional improvement in injured ones. [1] Research specifically on hop and cutting movements — the same mechanics as weighted lunges under load — showed that wearing a knee sleeve significantly reduced average ACL loading rates, lowering injury risk at the exact moment fatigue hits hardest. [2] A further study confirmed that a neoprene knee sleeve compensates for the loss of knee position sense that occurs as muscles fatigue [3] — which is why it's not just useful on race day, but on every hard training session leading up to it.

The compression also improves blood flow during effort, supporting faster clearance of metabolic waste — which means less soreness, less swelling and a shorter gap between sessions.

COMPRESSION SHOULDER SLEEVE

Keep your shoulder in the race from station one to station eight

The SkiErg, sled push, burpee broad jumps, farmer's carry — every station loads the shoulder. By station five, most athletes feel it. By station eight, it's all they can think about. The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, which makes it the most vulnerable under repeated high-rep loading.

Research shows that a neoprene shoulder sleeve measurably improves active joint repositioning — the ability of your shoulder to find and hold the correct position — in both stable and unstable shoulders. [4] Compression garments applied to the shoulder and scapular area improve both active and passive joint repositioning, with researchers attributing the effect to increased proprioceptive feedback through skin contact. [5]

A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis — the most comprehensive to date — confirmed that compression garments consistently deliver significant proprioceptive improvements across multiple studies compared to no garment. [6] That translates directly to less compensatory movement, reduced rotator cuff stress and a shoulder that can keep up with the demands of a full HYROX race.
